Three Cups of Tea, by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin, is a work of non-fiction about the life of Greg Mortenson. Mortenson, while climbing mountains in Baltistan, the poorest and most isolated part of Pakistan near the Afghanistan border, finds his purpose in life --- the education of Balti children. As a result of his single minded determination, Mortenson builds 55 schools. He also implements other projects such as a women's center and health clinics to improve the lives of the Balti. He earns the respect and support of the Muslim leadership and fights a one man war on terror by bringing hope to people. Truly an extraordinary book about an extraordinary man that shows the positive impact one person can have on the lives of many people. A very hard book to put down once I started reading.
More information on the book can be found at www.threecupsoftea.com and information on Central Asia Institute, the organization that Mortenson founded, can be found at www.ikat.org
This book is a must read and is available in paperback for $15.00. It can be ordered through the website with a portion of procedes going to fund Mortenson's work.
